Maria Rubert leads the international arbitration and corporate & commercial departments for the Firm.
Maria is a Spanish and US lawyer registered with the Dubai Ruler’s Court and the DIFC Courts.
Maria has previously played key-roles leading the arbitration divisions of preeminent UAE law firms. Maria was one of the first practitioners to have represented Dubai World before the Special Tribunal at the DIFC Courts. She often acts a speaker internationally and is professor honoris causa by a leading institution in Europe. She is a board member of the Spanish Business Council in the UAE.
In parallel to her counsel role, Maria is listed as an arbitrator with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Center the Ras al Khaimah Centre of Reconciliation and Commercial Arbitration, the Ajman Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Center, the Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre and Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute. She has heard a significant number of cases as sole arbitrator and tribunal member in real estate and commercial matters.
She obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in Spain and subsequently gained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from American University Washington College of Law in Washington DC, USA. She is expected to complete an Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) by December 2015.
